Mondeo Diesel M reg cambelt snapped?

130000 miles cambelt went at low speed, what damage would it have done to the engine? can it be repaired?

Answers:
Normally just 'top end' damage, (I laugh at the 'your big end will be gone!). The valves will be bent, and possible piston face scarring.

It'll take at least £500 for a 'garage' to do it on the cheap. That won't include getting the head skimmed (advisable).

MAY be cheaper to source a replacement engine & spend £300 getting it swapped over.

An M reg mondeo is only worth about £400 on the used market. Try Ebay.
Most likely the valve stems are bent also the top of the pistons may be dented, but unlikely. Yes it is repairable lift the head and all will be revealed..
Thats your big end gone ! You may as well go and get another car !
maybe you will need a new engine.you may have bent the valves .to be fair if its an m reg the cost of repairs will by far out way the worth of the car.you are looking at maybe a at worst 5-6 hundred upwards.just sracp it and buy another cheap 2nd hand car.
This usually wrecks the pistons. It is repairable but not cheap. As it's an M Reg you may find it's cheaper to get a new car. You could be lucky because you were at low speed but expect the worse. Get it checked by a reliable mechanic.
It can be repaired but depending on the amount of damage you would have to decide if its worth it,fords usually prang the valves when the cambelt goes and could have caused serious damage to a piston. If you are unable to do the repair work yourself then it will probably cost a fortune just to have the head removed and looked at.
not seen one of these do pistons yet even when breaking at 70mph, normally the cylinder head will be scrap as the camshaft and its carriers normally snap.
if your doing it yourself about 250 for a recon head ready to fit plus head bolts, gasket set and timing belt kit so probably 400 quid, the car isnt worth it, scrap it and put the money to another car.
Wash it with petrol and dry it with a match its knackered!!!
