How good and reliable is the Hemi v8 engine?
Answers:
Hello,
'Hemi' refers to the shapes of the cross-flow cylinder head on an engine, like a Chrysler V8 (although the name 'hemi', short for hemi-spherical was the trademark of Chrysler).
Generally, V8 engines are very robust and 'overdesigned' to last nearly forever. They have an good tuning potential. V8 engines have a huge good bottom-end torque and the power-range is wide, although usually V8 engines do not rev a lot (rarely above 7000 RPM), but who cares ! :D vvroom wroom.
When combined with a mechanical supercharger or turbo, they are second to none. The fuel consumption is generally much, but manufacturers improve this with some tricks (eg. at cruise condition and low speeds, only 4 cylinders get spark and fuel. Onyl when you floor it, comes the 'whole' engine (all 8 cylinders) to life' :) ).
So when that fit's into your car, go for it :D
Regards
