Fork lift licence?

Iam 44 yrs old and have had various jobs, i passed a competence test aged 16 to drive a fork lift within the firm grounds. My new job requires me to drive a fork lift will i have to take another test or is it up to the firm if they let me operate one?

Since it's been awhile since you got your fork lift license I would assume that you would have to retest.
With health and saftey being what it is these days I would imagine that you will be asked to take a test again if you cannot provide your new employer with the compitence certificate you got when you were 16.
.By law under health and safety policy, you will be required to sit another test. However, it depends on the strictness of the company.
Whatever rules the firm and / or their clients require- My co. requires retesting every 3 years.
I drive a fork truck occasionally at work and i have to re-qualify every 3 years . hope this helps.
i think you need to take another one diffrent firms deal with diffrent examiners .
but they will have no problem with the fact that you have already done one .
its good to have a refresher and especially if they are going to pay for it .
plus fork lifts have proberly changed since you were 16 and updated it will look better on your c.v. next time you apply for a job .
good luck and sure you will pass it ..
You will probably get re-tested, especially if your a new hire. Most companies like to have it on record that you have kept your training up to date on such things as forklifts, safety or hazmat.
Don't look at it as a bad thing.think about it as a refresher course. There is always something new to learn. Good luck!
Anytime I have been licensed for forklift ops, I have always taken it at the company site but it was done by an outsourced company who does licensing. I would think the company would need to show you licensed for insurance reasons. Yes, you would need to take it again. Just like a regular drivers license.
A few years ago when I was in a similar position to you, I was advised to take a refresher course.

I hope this helps.
well.it is the law that you have a certification. OSHA.gotta love em. Although, some employers are not really strict about this, but if they are you will have to retake it.
take another test
you need another test as its been 3 years since you took it thats what we had to do at fords as you are responsible for the safety of people around you so if you hit some one and you havent got a license you and not your company are up the creak without a paddle also the company will be sued for not making sure you have got one
By law You need to re-test m8 & its every 3 years now
