Please I want to buy a Honda CR-V (used), any common problems with this car, is it a good idea?
Answers:
I work at a Honda repair shop. The only complaints about the crv is the gas mileage about 23-28 depending on the person and their driving habits. The best thing about them is they are nearly indestructible. We have 3 of them that are rural mail carrier cars up and down dirt roads in Arkansas. No real problems as long as you keep it serviced and keep the timing belt replaced when due.
Yeah they got problems..
Mine has only 208,000 miles and I had to change the factory plugs.
My moms just had to have a timing belt at 102,000.
The darn thing just won't keep tires on for over 80,000
and the oil changes every 4 months will break ya.

Seriously great cars. but change the Timing belt and CV boots every 60,000 to 80,000 and you won't have many problems.
wish i knew!
I've had two and am now on my third. Love them! They're great to drive, they are reliable, and they are a safe car to drive.
i love my Honda CR-V. i had it for two years and absolutely no problems. knock on wood.
I've had one for last 3 yrs. No problem.
They have a good reputation.

The Honda CR-V Is an Absoutely Amazing Car,With Very Little Maintence Cost i Have Been Regularly Servicing Mine for the past 2 years and the only major change that I have ever done Is the tyres. (Mainly Due To My Rough Handling, Off Road.) Yes, It Is Also Capable of handling small sand dunes, along with slippery mud roads and the petrol consumption is not very high, on and off road.
i wld really suggest u not to get a . 2nd hand car.(used cars) . . . there wiLL somehow be little problems that will make u crazy.
Take a look on the What Car website - http://www.whatcar.co.uk/
there's loads of feedback from owners there - I've used it before when researching cars
Go to http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov to find Consumer Complaints, Defect Investigations, Recalls, and Technical Service Bulletins for a CR-V
The CRV is one of the best and most reliable cars ever built. My brother bought 1 in 1998, still owns it and has done over 100000 miles on it. The only parts replaced where the exhaust and battery(apart from usual servicing). Have a good look around the bodywork as unfortunately, they can be a bit prone to rust but only on the older cars and no more than any other make of car. Bit thirsty though, 25- 30 mpg max. Parts are expensive for Hondas but they dont usually need too many of them. Brilliant car.
Don't know much about the CR-V but I had a Honda Accord 2.2i from new and ran up 248,000 miles, with only usual replacements, exhaust, tyres, services etc.
You will not get better than Honda for reliability.
Check that the recall work to the wiring loom near the ignition switch has been done. Also cam belt at 60,000 miles.
Anti roll(sway bar )links can wear and cause knocks and rattles in suspension system.
Rear differential squeal on tight cornering.(change fluid)
Apart from above ,great car.
on certain year models 1997-2001 are exhaust valves burning.
if they are too tight or cannot be adjusted anymore the car may need a new cylinder head
thats the only Honda that really needs the valves adjusted every 30k
here is a complete review of the car by persons who know more about the cars. http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/car-reviews/car.
Had to fit a new radiator on my mums s reg one 100.000 miles. i think it was just a bit of bad luck. Half the price on ebay compared to dealer. easy to fit. no problems at all since.
