Anybody know how to get the bonnet up after the release cable has snapped?

Answers:
get underneath and see if the catch can be unbolted or if you can get something in to flick it open, sometimes you end up breaking a grill off to gain access.
if cable has snapped at handle end a pair of grips on the cable will do it.
yes. get somebody else to do it
doesnt work on all, but try a long flat edge screwdriver and find where the cable goes to the release under the front of the hood, try to pry where cable tugs on and hopefully will pop. Otherwise take it to a shop, we do it all the time.
Wot make of car and year? Don't force it, pleeze. If you can get a mate to put slight pressure on the Bonnet AND if you can get a pair of pliers or grips on to the end of the cable, just pull.
Let us know how you get on, so to speak!
Need to know what kind of car, mate.
Be carefull if you try the screwdriver option. I did this years ago on a Ford Capri, the screwdriver slipped and the end of the broken cable went through my hand, not a pleasent experience.
Try a - Big tin opener !!!
