Any experience of using bio fuels?

I've been running a 1993 Golf Diesel on a 50/50 mix of veg oil and Diesel for 2 months 3,000 miles now, performance is the same, fuel economy is the same, I followed my car today and it smells like popcorn and no black smoke out the back, couldn't be happier.
I read you have to change the fuel filter after 2,000 miles (I've bought one and have yet to change it) because the veg oil cleans all the crap out the tank and that can clog the filter, and in cold weather you have to use a higher concentration of diesel or your fuel is too solid to start, either that or use a heating system for the fuel. I'm looking into getting a source of used vegetable oil, if I can get that for €0.10 a litre then I would be doing the equivalent of 92mpg I calculated on a 50/50 mix :o)
No I hear used veg oil is suppose to be good!
Not yet. My Daimler runs on both LPG and petrol. LPG is half the price of petrol and gives me more milage.
i have used natural fire wood from my home town to cook and heat the house. its dirty and murky
LPG is NOT bio fuel. It's just another petroleum product. Non-renewable. Vegetable oil burns dirty like diesel fuel. Ethyl alcohol is the way to go.
A friend of mine is a fleet manager for a big farming company. They trialled bio fuel on about 200 vehicles. Increased maintenance, fuel filter changes and unrelaibility caused them to stop the trial within about two months (it was supposed to run for twelve).
I think it has some way to go yet.
