Help with 2k paint!?
My question is, I originally had a lot of pin prick type depressions in the paint which could not be polished out and I had to re-lacquer several areas.
Does anyone know what caused these?

I had the same problem when I did Mine in 2 pack, it was almost like there was some kind of silicone in places on the car but it was fully prepped and double checked. What I did in the end as the paint was put on thick is machine polished it with 2K t-cut. and do 1 or 2 blow ins in small minor areas
It took me 2 days but well worth the effort as it was like a mirror when it was done!
Probably just small stone chips from everyday driving. Overtaking gritters in the winter doesn't help your paintwork much either!
It sounds like there may have been some residual silicone left over from a polish.
You may have to sand down and respray.

air bubbles on application
You have residual silicone left over from a previous polish, either start all over again or apply a much thicker coat to compensate the problem.
Probably one of two things - air bubbles, or tiny spots of water landing just after application.
silicones do this to paint, you get these from car cleaning materials that linger in the air. Have you cleaned the car in the area you painted it.
yes silicones are quite possible, although they are often far bigger, hence they are often called fish eyes. Another possibility is that of solvent entrapment from the basecoat. If you didnt allow sufficient flash time between applications solvent that hadnt had time to evaporate will still need to get out. I used to work for a paint company, so i should know, but im damned if i can remember all i knew!
Also the ambient temperature can play a part.
