Space Runner J reg Auto 1.8GLXi idle speed is too high (1500) when cold and rapidly rises to 2500 when warm.?

Stuart is right.Air flow meter is the problem, can be expensive so try and source a second hand one. Also a hyundai has the same set up and might be cheaper to buy from them
Strange. haven't come across that one before. It sounds like you might need a new timing belt, but check with your mechanic.
Air flow meter not working, thats why it rises more when its warm, once the automatic choke goes off. Timing belt would not have any effect on the car performance, unless its broken obviously, but this is not the case here. Had this problem on many cars with erratic idle.
