Who should attend?
Potential and existing operators who have received no formal instruction and those requiring refresher training.
Aims:
To give foundation training and assessment towards the achievement of an Intermediate Certificate (ICT)/Scottish Progression Award (SPA) and a Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) trained operator card. Note Operators should note that the achievement of an ICT/SPA and the obtaining of a CPCS are dependant upon passing the Health and Safety Test. The achievement of the CPCS Competency Card is dependant upon completion of an NVQ in Plant Operations (Constructions) Operative Level 2. Content:
The course content will include: Operating the machine on all normal tasks for which the machine is designed; Deciding whether a particular load is safe to lift; Carrying out routine servicing procedures and maintenance in accordance with the manufacturers instructions; Preparing and driving the machine on public highways, and loading it onto a transporter in accordance with the requirements of the Road Traffic Acts.
Knowledge:
At the completion of the course the operative should know: The purpose and capabilities of their machine and any relevant safety precautions necessary for its operation; How the machine works and the maintenance requirements involved; The effect of load, size, weight, gradients and ground conditions upon machine stability; The loading, storage and transit of representative materials; The basic construction of pallets; and The permitted loading of scaffolds.

A balance between practical exercises and classroom based tutorials.

Is that the same as a Reach Forklift, as opposed to a Counter Balance? When I applied for mine, 5 years ago, it was £250. I believe it's now about £325. Get on it, it's great fun!
hi ! you do not say if you are working already or not, if you are not in full time work have a chat to your local job-centre because there are free courses for unempolyed people, and possible job placements, if you are working some employers will arrange training on the condition you sign to work for them for a fixed time usually three years try google and type in fork lift truck training in the uk..good luck
