Cos its a Peugeot. I had 3 of them all brand new and had this come on everytime. Its usually a thing under the wheel needs replacing called a "com 2000" or something. Its a very common fault with Peugeots, the electrics are awful. Take it to a dealer and see but do it quickly, it could be important. Mine turned itself off at 70mph which wasnt a nice experience
It's quite common to see Peugeot with problems. Most of the cars that stopped on shoulders on the motorway are Peugeots, no matter new or old!! I heard my friends had problem with Peugeot like the electric windows not working, lights problems.
These problems are mostly manufacturer's fault. You'll need to take your car to garage or dealership fixed.
Because your engine is dying, the electrical system is disolving, or both. (French cars..ecch)
