Why are petrol prices in 85.9 per litre when it doesn't exist?
Answers:
The number surely exists. Gasoline companies do it as a ruse. Most people quote a gas price "almost" a full penny less than the actual price. And most laws allow for a vendor to do it. If you really want to make a big deal, next time you buy gas, stop the meter (better if digital) between numbers, and ask the cashier for your change - say for example .6/10 of a penny. Demand the cashier give you a credit voucher for the remaining change. If they refuse, contact the company for a valid discharge of debit. If enough people would do this, they would stop with the silly practice of trying to decieve people in just one more way to make more money. (Poor oil companies - teetering on the edge need some edge to make ends meet!).
No one buys exactly a litre do they ? They buy £10's worth or whatever!
what doesnt exist, the petrol or the litre
It sounds like they price it by the liter to make it sound Cheaper. then suprise when you buy it . Its just the crooked ways the polititions have allowed the democracy to develop into. we need to develop an alternative fuel.
You can't buy one litre. Usually you buy 30 litres, the fact that it is 85.9 instead of 86 saves you 30p.
Its a phcycological gimmick as 85.9 seemes a lot cheeper than 86.0 its the same as £ 999 soynds a lot cheaper than £1000
it fools the public all the time
All the petrol I buy exists. Honest.
