Answers:
go to your local dealerships and haggle on price with them if you willing to pay up front with cash they be able to do better deals also main dealers usually do deals on insurance so save you bit more aswell
please do not spend all of this on a car..you have years ahead, have a car, holiday, night out etc..
Vauxhall Omega. ex police can be good as well looked after although mileage would be high. decent cars though and bloody comfy. Suggest an 02 or an 03 plate. you would still get change
buy a vauxhall corsa - reliable, fast and relatively cheap to maintain
bugger the car get a Mazda bongo you can go places and party and sleep in the back holds 8 but you could convert to suit yourself
How's an 18 yr old got that kind of money to spend on a car? Are you a drug dealer, rich parents, you cashing in cos' granny's popped her clogs?

Anyway, may i recommend a Peugeot 406 coupe, for around 3.5K you probally get one on a 2000/01 plate. Beautiful, stylish cars, a pleasure to drive, go for the 3 litre V6 Version, pricey on the insurance, but you're a rich kid. Put some cool looking alloys on it, and away you go..you'll be the envy of all your poor mates!
If you are insuring a car under your own name - even something as small as a Corsa SXi - you will be looking at roughly 800 GBP per annum. Old beasts are cheap to buy but expensive to run and very expensive to insure. They tend to be in high insurance categories (numbered 1 to 20 most cars are in at least 6 or above).

You can definitely get something that meets all your requirements for 4000 GBP, all I'm saying is that it could easily cost you 2000 GBP to run each year.

Anytime you get into a car, you're also risking your clean license, especially these days with so many more regulations and crazy road users.

So I'd agree with the previous poster and say don't get a car unless you genuinely need one for your work / family.

But driving can be fun, and I'd suggest renting a car for a week every month, which would work out cheaper than buying a new one. Plus you get the benefit of driving around in a new and different car every time.
So thats £250 for the car, £ 750 sound system £ 3000 insurance,
Montego Turbo Diesel estate, 50 mpg 7 seats, thats 6 mates to help push, or get a classic, a saracen armoured car would certainly give the oldies peace of mind crash wise.
18 is too young for cars, get a Bike have some fun.
If you have an idea about what car you want then BEFORE buying it, go on get some insurance quotes of how much you are likely to pay and since being 18 - not cheap.

at 18 you cannot the insurance on something big and quick will cripple you. My friends son is paying £1500 for a 1200cc clio.
if this isnt a problem then get yourself a passat 1800 turbo.
starlet turbo only job im 6'8" and i fit but they are quick cheap and reliable
Its statistically likely that new drivers will have an accident within their first couple of years, I would suggest building up no claims with a decent cheaper car, and put the rest into a savings account. My brother has a vauxhall astra estate diesel and he's 6ft and big, he loves this car because of the mileage he can do in it and the low running costs. Why not start saving for a place of your own, that will impress the girls more than a flash car in the end!
