Similar to the previous answers, why bother indeed, it's an old escort after all. Save the money you would of spend on modifications, get yourself on EBay, take a look at the Escorts on there, there's literally thousands, all going a silly next to nothing prices. I reckon you'll be able to pick-up a Escort WITH modifications, alloys, performance exhaust, tints.etc for a little as £500 maybe more depending on what extras you can get for your money.
Anyway have a good scout on there, it's very addictive too.
Don't bother! Other than a nice rich exhaust note they make little discernible difference to performance.
Things like carbs: make the biggest change that's why you have to declare them to you insurance company.

Waste of time and money without engine modifications, all you will succeed is making a lot of noise. If money no object take it to Cosworth or some other race engineer.
