Any one else out there ever owned a Lotus Carlton if so what were the most recurring problems it had ?

Answers:
no, but my brother had a gsi3000, same base but twin turbo engine, 6 speed box, lowered tweaked suspension, and very fast, 178mph when tested, gsi will only pull 148 , and thats bloody quick !!brakes can fade,so would you trying to stop 2.5 ton of metal, gearbox is almost impossible to find if it breaks, turbos have to be kept on song, petrol, well on a run, you might get 27/8 mpg, thrash around town ,er expect about 12-14 mpg, but a bloody great car , becoming rare so if price is right grab it quick, good luck mate.
HAD A 1966 lOTUS CORTINA YEARS AGO AND HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT AT ALL.
the biggest problem with this car is killing yourself in it which was why it came with a free institute of advanced motorists high speed driving course when new
I had one as a company car. . the worst problem was that it was a car thief's dream and kept getting broken into.

AND I lived in a small town where we never saw a police car until I parked outside the local and three police cars passed in about 30 minutes.

AND I got stopped once every week or so by police drivers who really wanted to talk about it.
So I changed it for a BMW 2.5 and had a quiet life.
Tyre wear and people thinking its just a bloody vauxhall not realising at the time it was the fastest mass produced 4 door saloon in the world.
