Willows! Great answer! LOL!
Yes

Maybe a heavier weight.ask your mechanic what weight is best..
NO oil for the moter is diffrent grade
well, when your at the petrol station, you fill up with "diesel" if you have a diesel car. pretty simple i guess.
Diesel Cars should take different oil than petrol cars. They have higher compression and run slightly differently. You can buy Deisel formulated oil, but normal car oil will do if you dont mind changing it more often.
A lot of cars these days have been designed for a relatively new long lasting type of oil, if this is the case then only that type should be used. Check with the manufacturer.
There are different oils for diesel and petrol engines. When you buy them it will tell you on the container whether its for petrol or diesel engines. Diesel engines are very dirty and require more attention to changing owing to a quicker deterioration of the oil. neglecting regular changing every 3 months or 5oook could be detremental to your engine.
diesel oils need to be high in detergent which is present in the best of synthitic petrol oils, turbo deisels need a synthetic oil and can break down very quickly with ordinary oil.

The best oils are certified for use in both engine types, for lower priced oils buy engine specific
YES ASKED THE LANDROVER PEOPLE THE SAME QUESTION WHEN I BOUGHT A DIESEL.BUT BE CAREFULL SOME CARS USE SEMI SYNTHETIC OR FULLY SYNTHETIC OIL BEST TO ASK YOURE LOCAL DEALER
NO. Diesel specific oils have a higher detergent / anti foaming content as it gets dirtier MUCH faster.

OK to use any for a little top-up, but if significant amounts - do it right.
No, there are different grades of oil, for example, oil for petrol is quite thick, diesel cars it is thinner. Also it depends on the engine (diesel or petrol) to what gradient you require. A turbo-charged petrol engine requires a thinner gradient than standard petrol engine, a PD diesel engine requires a thinner gradient than a standard diesel. Ask your local dealer for the correct oil for your car, or even a good car parts dealer (Andrew Page). Don't use c**ppy Halfords, they don't know what they are talking about half the time!
no a different grade of oil normally most oils will tell if diesel or petrol
I can't believe how some people have given you the wrong answer.

Diesel engines as a few people have said require specific engine oil as defined in the car's handbook. After about 4 years engines begin to use more oil so you should always carry some to top up if necessary.
no, you need diesel engine oil for n-a or turbo diesel, n-a means natural asperation ( no turbo) same oil though. pete
