Are Fiat good cars? I have heard that the build quality is not good. Is that true?

Some say it stands for "Fix it again tomorrow".
FIAT - Fix It Again Tony
As far as I know they are RUBBISH.
i bought one before it was lousy always needs maintanancs specially the electrical parts
personally i don't like them.
yes in my experience all I've had to do with fiats is physically push them down a street- i realise now it would have been easier to walk or use public transport would have been less strenuous.
they are cheaper for a reason they are not built well. They are better than they were but so are all the other manufacturers, if you want a cheap reliable car go for a Nissan pound of pound they are a much better car albeit a tad boring.

An old joke: what does Fiat stand for?
Fix it again tony

I have known a number of fiat owners and they all have had problems even with the new cars
I wouldn't buy one.
i hate faits i was in a comer because of 1 i was in a car chash because my fiat went out off control i had 74% off dieing but i a ok now
newer ones dont rust as bad as older ones did bit of a use it untill mot out then throw it away
Iv'e had a fiat for a year now. It starts first time in any weather and hasn't had much done to it, but the parts are well expensive, and the clutch cost me £400.
I would not choose one. i never had one, saying that. I think one is better off with a japanese or a volkswagon.
I bought a Brava a couple of years ago and it was ok for a while but things went wrong within six months and a scrapped it within a year of buying it.
They make a great lawn ornament..
I have a five year old Fiat Punto (Mia - very basic) which has never broken down. However, this model has not even got Electric Windows or Air Con; I am told, Fiat is famed for bad electrics. If you are buying a basic and cheap little runner, you will not find a better car than the Punto.
Very poor car. Don't waste your money.
i have a 1973 fiat 124 never had any major problems. just the usual stuff, brakes muffler stuff like that. great car
HAVE HAD A COUPLE OF THEM - NO GOOD
the most common car in the workshop after rover is Fiat .
You'll be amazed to here that Fiat make Ferrari .
oops no-ones gonna but a Ferrari now
Build quality has been, well, rubbish until a few years ago. If you get a pre-2001 fiat you'll have a car that's much more interesting than most of the other cars on the road (they always handle better than average), but less reliable too. The latest ones are quite good now. Have no idea what happened since then but they seem to be fimne now.
They are as good as just about every other volume motor manufacturer. VW, Ford, GM, Mercedes..they all produce poorly built cars nowadays.
Nope.. not a recomended car make. have loads of troubles and the after sales is a night mare.. if ever have a problem with the car, it will be in the garage more than it will be with you. spares expensive.. Its altogether a liability as soon as you own one.. Bad After Sales..
Fiat worse than death.
My first car was a 1974 Fiat sedan. It was a very good car, my only problem was finding an honest mechanic after the warranty finished. .-and the radio,
