Do i need to display learner plates on a moped as i have a full uk car licence, held for 24 yrs?
Answers:
I don't think so. I missed be able to ride a 50cc moped with out plates by a couple of months and I've been driving for about 14yrs.
I think under 50cc your car licence covers it.
yeah you do.coz its a different type of vehicle. like your CBT its different from doing your car drivers test.
Check on your driving licence. It should say it's a full licence for whichever categorys of vehicle you've passed & provisional for all others.
I think yours would be the same as mine, and will be a full licence for a moped, in which case you don't need L plates.
You need to have Class A1 on your Driving License to ride without L Plates on a moped.
Leaflet D100 available from Post Offices explains categories but you can phone Driving Standards Agency 0115 901 2500 for clarification
Yes unless you have completed a CBT test on your moped. Its a 1 day test and has to be taken by everyone riding a moped upto 125cc.
no i dont think you do but it hasto be less than a125 cc
believe it or not this is not required to as this is on your licence but you must get it validated
see links below it is confusing
From 1 January 1997 all learner moped and motorcycle riders irrespective of when a licence was issued must have completed a Compulsory Basic Training [CBT] course before riding a moped or motorcycle.
When you successfully complete CBT you will get a Certificate of Completion [DL196] which is valid for 3 years. Certificates issued before 1 July 1996 expired on 30 June 1999. The requirement to complete CBT does not apply those riders who are :
learning to ride a motorcycle and who have already obtained full moped entitlement as a result of passing a moped test on or after 1 December 1990, or riding a moped with full entitlement given automatically with a full car licence.
If you have any enquiries about CBT phone the Driving Standards Agency on 0115 901 2500 and ask for the CBT section.
All new car drivers wanting to validate the full moped entitlement granted with their full car licence must complete a CBT course.
