My black volvo bonnet is turning white. What can I do to correct this?

Answers:
There's a really good car polish called Mer, you can usually find a stall at local markets selling it in the UK, or in some Halfords stores. I think it's an American product so those in the US can probably get it easily too.

Or you could try T-Cutting it or there's also colour restoring polish which might help.

Basically, your paintwork is being oxidised, commonly caused by acid rain, strong sunlight or bird droppings - red paintwork is most affected by this, using a good polish helps prevent and treat it!
Correction to the problem is easy - loose the volvo!!
black emulsion. Worked on my old Polo.
try to park it out of the sun, use one of those black tcut polishes, and never do that in the sun, or if the body work is hot either
respray the bonnet with the same colour. use a sander to get the paint of or paint stripper apply a under coat and using a well ventillated area spray the bonnet to the original colour. always read the can.
go to the car shop and buy some spray paint.
try usin t-cut colour restoring polish. it good. i use it on my car and it make it look as good as new. :-)
Ask MICHAEL JACKSON"s. dermatologist..aaaargh.
T-cut and an electric polisher - or a LOT of 'elbow grease'. Then wash off & apply a high quality polish (do the whole car) like MER or Supagard.
your bonnet is fading coz the paint is oxidising, and as i ahev the same problem, (on a 760) and the lacquer is peeling. theres not a lot you can do, apart from either T cut and farecla, or a respray. you might actually be beter off buying another bonnet from teh scrappers, at least itll be the right colour and wont need painting.

but hey, its a volvo, mine cost 300 quid off e bay 3 years ago.yes the paint is scratched and faded, (its silver so you dont notice too much) but it does 40mpg, and is built like a tank, last week i had 6 folding tables iin it. in all honesty, id rather have an 18 year old volvo than a five year old ford. (and it will still outlive the ford)
A good compound and polish with plenty of elbow grease and stop parking it in the sun
