the 2.8i was great
Avoid the 1.6 its all looks and no go.
.pretty cool.
Not as cool as a Corvette, way more cool than a Peugeot.
ford didn't make a Capri,,mercury did,,and yes there a pretty cool car i had one once,,and wish i had it back, there cool,,but expensive to repair,,i own a repair shop,,and the parts for them are high,,good luck with it.
Well its kinda like the prequel to the mustang body of the late 80,s to thE early 90.s but i,m goo with uncool plus for what your going to pay for it you probably can get a nice 90 or later hoda accord dependable ca 2dr only( and i drive a mustang so dont thing i,m hating on fords
I love capri's but never heard of Ford making them, usually I go to Old Navy or Kohl's.
each to their own!
They were sold as the Mercury Capri in the US, but I think they were made in Australia and sold internationally as Fords. They're a nice little sporty convertible. my sister-in-law owned two over the years. I don't know much about them except that she never had much mechanical trouble. Still, you might also want to look at the Mazda MX-3 (called the Miata in the US).
depends on what year! if its an 80's car its basically a mustang on muscle relaxers, if its like in the mid 90's it better be convertable and clean(took my roadtest in a convert.) i loved it but not roomy at all not good to take freinds out with
they were cool
ADDITIONAL I am English in UK too Phish
Seeing as I seem to be the only English respondent here, it was advertised in England as 'The Car You Always Promised Yourself', and was a great success with many variants, from the Capri Mk.1. (some with a 1300cc crossflow Kent OHV engine. very rare, very few made), right up to the 280 Brooklands which was one of the last versions of the Capri.
Capris are getting rarer now as they all succumbed to serious rusting. Most quality Capris are in the hands of enthusiasts.
I think they are cool because I was around when they were new, and nearly everybody wanted one. There does seem to be a resurgence of interest in Capris lately, and that is going to push-up the values of the few that are left.
There are old skool cool
pretty cool sense ford dont make capri, chevy does!
Once again the Yanks think that every question revolves around them. Why can't they get their facts right, before they open their enormous mouths.
Ford Made A Car Called A Capri-here in Europe.-I owned several.
When the Capri was first built it was "very cool"I had both the 3.0L and then later the 2.8I.
When you look at them now they look a bit dated,
Great comments from Bricklayer.
Surprisngly I too had 2 Capris, a silver 3.0s and a two tone green 2.8i.
The latter was really cool. One of the quick production cars of the day, comfortable, and desirable. Bit skittish in the wet though, even with low profile tyres.
Pretty cool I'd say.
Great icon of motoring, one of those cars that will be in the histor book till time end. As for what it was really like ? well it looked gr8 for its day.reasonable drive as well, bit basic inside compared to todays vehicles.only one drawback.it was murder in there with ur bird if ur over 6'0..no bloody room, dont beleive the stories bout the girl with 2 legs on the dashboard lol if u know what i mean,,,tried it..didnt work lol
The ones before the mid-80's are completely cool, however the mid 80's ones with the newer body shapes, and labels such as 'laser' are completely uncool.
Cool.. ford capri's have style.
Without a doubt the ford capri is the coolest car ever to grace the tarmac. I have had a few models and have had the most fun driving them, especially the RS version, even more fun and a bit cooler than my Stingray.
They were the coolest car of their era, the first sporty hatchback made for the masses.
The Professionals made them cool, blasting around in the 3.0S models.
Always wanted to own one but never able to afford the insurance due to a couple of misdemeanours on the insurance front.
The Capri IS still a very cool car. To set the record straight (yes - I'm a Yank) Ford DID build the Capri. Mercury is a division of the Ford Motor Company. The last Capri WAS built in Australia. The engines were from Mazda. The body was designed in Italy by Barchetta. The Last Capri was a roadster (convertible) but came with an optional hard top that was removable. One of the best points of the roadster was the hard cover for the folded-down top. Gave it a clean look. They were not very fast and are NOT considered a sports car. What they are is a "boulevard" car. Meant for cruising around and short trips in town.
The Ford Capris, as mentioned above were world beaters in their day. There is still one here in Las Vegas that takes on all the rice rockets and hands them their heads on a regular basis. They were brutal little cars - absolutely lethal in the hands of a proficient driver.
What else is there to say?
By the way Chevrolet builds the Caprice - not a Capri. But I can forgive the exuberence of youth.
The coolest car in the world, I've had loads of them and it's not too hard to get parts for them even though the last ones were made in 1987. If your gonna get 1 get a 2.8i special rip out the carpets and get new floor panels welded on it as they are prone to rusting at the inner sils and at the seat bolts
A black 2.8i capri, very cool indeed!! Looks wicked & sounds evil! Nice!!
yes I had a black one
