Wheel Spacers?

Im looking for some wheel spacers for the rear wheels of my car to give it that wider stance. Can i not just put a few washers between the hub and wheel rather than shelling out ££ on proper fitting ones?

Answers:
NO YOU CANT
The wheels will be unbalanced and insecure and that could cause a multitude of problems, least of which could be the wheel shearing the bolts and flying off,,causing you to die in a horrible and untimely fashion, not to mention that the stray wheel could whack some poor old lady while she's just feeding the pigeons.
Seriously,, dont be a cheapskate on this, please, its VERY dangerous,,,,,
yes if you dont mind loseing a wheel at 70 mph. the lug nuts will not stay tight with washers.
Why bother you only over load your hub bearings, but if you must washers will not do you need proper spacers +you might need different wheel studs.Regards Mick
NONONONONO. YOULL DIE. you can buy proper wheel spacers for less then a ten quid a pair, then you have to change the wheel studs, (they tap out of the hub backwards) or buy longer wheel bolts.

however, when yu fit carlos fandogos they ofetn foul the bodywork, esp when you and all your mates are in the back.
You must buy spacers that are relevant to your car as well as longer wheel bolts. They are not that expensive, look in the car magazines as theer are plenty of companies out there selling them.

This will keep everything in balance and ensure that the car is safe.
