Toyota prius is quite good, runs on fuel and battery and can switch betwen the two according to your driving and speed.
My husband works for toyota, so brings one home occasionally, ive never noticed any difference between this and a norml fuel car.
Hydrogen Steam are the most effedctive thing going now, and Hydrogen is in every drop of water. Thats a moose load of free non pollutants. When it can be taxed by the Leaders it will become a reality, untill that moment Humanity must wait on the corporations and goverments in place to make the profits while they can.
Battery prices, use to be $50 boughgt a nice gel battery, lasted 5 years or more, same battery today is $250. Material price didnt go up, supply didnt fall, but if greater profit is to be made on Hybrids, well, gotta raise the price of all the functional parts that anyone can replace.
Hydrogen is most plentiful and is even in outer space, so that is the way to go.

It is about a study that takes into account all energy to design, produce, run and dispose of a vehicle. Surprisingly, Hybrids require a lot more energy to design and manufacture as well as dispose of after their useful lives. The other thing is the life of a Hybrid vehicle is only about 1/3 of a normal vehicle probably due to the high cost to replace the short life batteries.
NOT the Lexus Hybrid - it only has enough electrical power to overcome the initial acceleration and only has an 'electrical range' of a few miles.
