92 Golf bonnet release cable broken or jammed. How do I get in there to fixit?

Can't move the car, no battery. Don't want to push it 40 miles to nearest VW dealer. I have plenty of tools .

There should be a lever under the front of the bonnet area, feel around for it and you should find it. Get someone to get in the car and hold down the bonnet release and then you put your hands under the bonnet and feel arount for the trigger and push it.

At least it's like this for a 1990s Holden Commodore, but it may be different for your Golf.
