How to i fit a speedometer cable to a 1997 fiat brava?

Answers:
shouldn't need to they will have fitted one at the factory when it was built.if they didn't i would say its too late now to get it done on warranty
Why the hell will you need one?
I would take it to the garage. Do they really have a speedo?
you wouldn't need one as fiat installed self-evaluating speed defence mechanisms to all of their cars. At 10mph a wing mirror falls off, at 20mph the indicators fall off and at 30mph the steering wheel falls off.

This is why nobody has ever passed their test in a fiat as the car isn't in one piece long enough to complete the mirror, signal, manoeuvre part the test !!
remove the old one and to quote the good old haynes manual refitting is the oppostie of removal
Easy but lengthy job.

The sensor end is mounted on the top of the gearbox bellhousing, just right of the clutch lever mechanism. Unscrew that to start with.

Then unscrew the dash assembly (remove the glass, followed by the instrument cluster and it should just pull forward. look out for plastic clips that can break easily).

Unscrew from the back of the speedo. Tie a good thick length of string around the end of the cable. Make sure it is extra safe and cannot be pulled off.
Now, take the gearbox end (it has the biggiest fitting) and pull the cable through, ensuring the string doesn't come detached.

When you've pulled the cable through, undo the string and re tie to the new speedo cable. Pull the cable back through and re-attach.

Before you do that though, check the gearbox fitting. More often than not they have just come unclipped or the sensor connections are dirty. It's an electrical speedo not the old mechanical type, so dirt is a major culprit. It's also easy to knock it when you service the engine so you might just need to clip it back in.
it could be the sender on the gearbox try giving it a light tap
that should cure it ,it did on mine
something tells me there is no cable fitted for the speedo, it only has a transducer which send signals upto the meter which interprets reading and moves needle in dash.
