honda - it still holds it inventors principles - it is by far the most superior jap. but you should get a fiat - multipla or ulyesse or stilo multiwagon or croma. so good!

I've heard good things about Toyota, I personally own a 93 Toyota Celica GT and it is good to me. Their engines last a long time, into the 200k and 300k miles of use. I like Mitsubishi myself. I love the Eclipse, the 3000gt, and the Evo, but Toyota is a better manufature of cars. As for a family car like the Mondeo. Toyota has it's Tercel, Corolla, or Camry. I'd pick the Tercel, it's a real nice car.

Toyota is the number 1 auto maker in Japan and Honda is 2nd. thats what i heard.
if your looking for Japanese family sedan, I think you can't really consider anything until you look at the Toyota Avensis and the Honda Accord. the tick all the boxes. but if you are considering the possible being the little bit different you should think about the Toyota Chaser or the Nissan Gloria. big sedans with amazing engines.
In my opinion Toyota has the best track record so far. Depending on the size of your family you may want to check out the Toyota Camry.
