Answers:
this happened to my friend and they took a good 3months to sort out the optional extra that he requested,
the best bet will to contact them, ask them if you can leave the optional extra and get your money back for it

why is everyone hating because he bought his daughter a bmw, get over it, its her 18th a special day, just because he has abit if money don't mean he don't need help from yahoo answers
Oh dear - what a dilemma!
isn't your daughter a lucky girl, she'd be most upset if you stopped the order now!
My heart bleeds for her!
just talk to them and sort it out!!
I think the ''paint problem'' will be the least of your problems when the 18 year old wraps the car around a tree.
ohhh no she wont get her brand new BMW on time for her birthday! How will she ever forgive you???

why dont you buy her a few ponies to soften the blow or put another £10k on her credit card
u should be able to just go to the dealer ship and be nice at first and then get mean if that dont work get a laweyer
very posh, how can I beat that? My daughter will be 18 next year, anyway why do you want to stop the order now, late is better than never surely?
Can you threaten to pull the order unless you get the car on time.
Your daughter is a very lucky girl to be reveiving such a lavish present, Im pretty sure she will be so grateful, she wont mind it being a little late.
Maybe get a large box and some smaller boxes and a BMW key ring and place it in the smallest box (IM sure BMW will provide you with an official keyring seing as you are spending so much money)
You can, but you'll probably lose your deposit.

Go to another dealer and see what they can do for you. If they think they'll get your business then they might waive the deposit, or throw in something extra for free.

You're daughter is a lucky girl. It's a very nice car!
Yeah I had that problem when it was my daughters 17th her Audi TT. They kept saying two weeks two weeks for the alloys she wanted. In the end we realised what a poilt little cow she was and how she would never realise the value of money if she got everything she wanted. She now drives a B reg Nova and is a very level headed and bice young woman.
How much is it going to cost to insure an 18 year old on a BMW330ci?

Are you not concerned that such a young driver in a powerful car is a recipe for disaster?

I suppose it would depned on the terms and conditions you signed up to when you placed the order. At the end of the day your best bet is to go and talk to them about it. Make sure they understand the importance of the car and that if they do not get it to you soon you will be inclinded not to buy from them in the future.
why dont you just tell the salesman that due to unreasonable delay you no longer want the car and that when they return any deposit you might have paid it had better have some compensation with it as well
I sleep easier knowing that you are no longer a sgt in 3 para ?
I suspect the contract of sale says that reasonable delays don't constitute breach of contract. Since its an Individual paint option it gets finished "off-line" which takes it out of BMW AG's system for finish, since it is finished at "Individual" at Garching.. The dealer loses some of their visibility on completion at this stage. BTW you have also been overcharged for the Individual paint by a pretty penny.
I guess you may have had other Individual options included in the price you quoted.
I'm really sorry madam but many people aren't lucky enough like your daughter or that matter myself with an infiniti when I was her age. the % of ppl who wish they had what your daughter will have is probably more than 95% population. Yes, I would probably stop the order (if possible).
If you've already made and signed the contract they can do nothing to change it. Unfortunately, neither can you. Enjoy your new car, and make the dealer respond to each and every problem you have until you're satisifed with your purchase. That's what the warranty is for. Good luck.
