Who do they call it a 3 door?

i was wondering why do they call car with 2 doors ,a 3 door car.boot is not a door, bonet is not a door.help

Answers:
They don't
its bacause of the boot it is classed as another door.
Hatchback
It's to help differentiate between hatchbacks & saloons. A 4 door saloon is described as a 4-door, while a 4-door hatchback is a 5-door.
The same rules apply to a 2-door & 3-door - one's a saloon & one's a hatchback!1
the hatchbacks are considered 3 door
Hatchback cars are classified as three or five door where the boot lid is the third or fifth door.
It should be because it has a hatchback. The reason it is considered a door is because it opens into the inside of the car, even if it is a cargo area. A trunk doesn't count because it's not conected to the rest of the inside of the car.
Because hatches allow access to the passenger compartment of the vehicle, by way of going over the rear seats, so technically, the hatch could be used as a door, if you were so inclined. You couldn't do that with a conventional trunk (or 'boot', if you like). Same goes for wagons, most automotive publications classify wagons as 'five-doors'.
One door on the right, one door on the left and one at the back, that makes three.
That's just what they call hatchbacks.
2 door car is a 2 door or saloon depending on maker, 2 doors and a hatchback is a 3door, 4 doors is a saloon, 4 doors and hatchback is a 5door
If the car has a hatchback, that is classified as a door (because if you wanted to you could get into the cabin that way). It helps to differentiate in a written description between a hatchback and a saloon (sedan in American speak).

So a Golf is a 3-door or 5-door (hatchback), but a Jetta is a 4-door (no hatchback).
if it is a hatch-back they consider that a door. it comes from station wagons having rear doors that eventually angled to the point of a hatch and not a usable door.
It's also a trendy marketing phrase.
two doors (drivers & passengers). the boot is classed as a door also due to you being able to access the cabin through it if needed
do they?
they call it a three door as it is a hatchback if it was a saloon it would be called a 2 door as it will have a boot
