A police constable in uniform, may cause to stop any vehicle on a road or public highway, including any bridges over which that road may pass, and direct the driver of that vehicle to produce their driving licence, proof of insurance or MOT, if the driver is unable to produce these documents, they may elect a police station at which to produce them of their own choice..short answer.YES
rule #1 shut the **** up or get beat the **** up
Trust me they will make a reason. one of the most popular ones up here is an airfreshener or necklace hanging from the rearview mirror
In america they can do what they want even pull you over by running your plates and priors gets suspision. but You usually get a warning unless ur in the wrong
yes the police can stop any one for any reason most of the time its just a random spot checks but for further info try looking up the law society or contact your local police HQ or even write to your local Parliament and try request the info that you are looking for under the freedom of information act of Parliament best of luck in your quest for info
In the UK the Police can pull you over for 'cause for suspicion' meaning they can pull you over any time they like and then say something like, you were wandering over the lane etc.
I got pulled over for speeding last night, I explained to the officer that I was rushing to check on my mum who we hadn't heard from all day (true story) and they let me go without any delay, so they're not all bad.
well.they could always make up some reason. police departments have policy manuals. i'm not sure what the laws are.
No they can't pull you over for no reason in the UK but they can quite easily come up with a reason if they wanted to.
Put it this way, if they want to stop you then they will. A motorbiking friend of mine was pulled in on the excuse that his chrome exhaust and engine parts were too shiny. They 'could' affect the eyes of drivers. Needless to say his case did not get to the court.

this may be the best one http://www.thesite.org/homelawandmoney/l.
They can only pull you over if they believe or suspect to believe there is an offence committed. This could be from having a light out or believed to be in possesion of drugs or firearms (ect). As long as your car is road legal and your not breaking the law you have nothing to worry about. Just remember, there just doing there job.
THE POLICE NEED PROBABLE CAUSE AT THE VERY LEAST TO PULL YOU OVER. THE BEST THING IS TO KEEP YOUR LICENSE AND REGISTRATION HANDY AND WHEN THE POLICE OFFICER GETS TO YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD HAVE BOTH HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL, SO THE POLICE OFFICER CAN SEE THEM. IF YOUR HANDS ARE NOT IN HIS DIRECT VIEW, THEN DON'T BE SURPRISED IF HE HAS HIS GUN DRAWN ON YOU. ADMIT YOU WERE WRONG AND ANSWER " YES SIR, NO SIR OR YES OFFICER OR NO OFFICER". DO NOT JOKE WITH OFFICER. DO NOT HAVE RADIO ON.
they can site anything they wish to pull you over.
check with the aclu th further study your right acording to your state
The police can pull you over if they have reasonable suspicion that a crime has been is or being committed. Where they consider that the driver "does not fit the car" their suspicion will be that it may have been stolen. The best advice is not to argue.
i dnt really like the police but thn again i could understand them saying that comment..perhaps it shouldve been said a little more diplomatically, i was givin the same excuse before but then again i was 18 and in a 2 litre sports car ( mine ) and i looked v scruffy i was miffed but thn again if it had been some scruffy smackhead driving my car thn id have appreciated them being stopped, id rather have a cop trying to work on instinct alone than have a speed camera etc do the work for thm
Don't worry my friend. They can pull you over for any reason. They are just doing there job.
I am 24 and drive a Ferrari 430, Mercedes CLS55 AMG and The new Audi Q7.
I have been stopped twice in the Q7 last month. The Ferrari about once a month and the mercedes never. I got the hump at first but one day the policeman said. If you were me and you saw you driving your car would you pull you over? I said hell yes I would.
He said if someone stole your car and we thought they looked suspicious would you want us to pull them over? Good job guys!
When I get pulled over in the Ferrari other drivers shout abuse at me while I'm standing at roadside. It is really funny what they say to me and the police.
