I would get the job done professionally. If this is the problem then the head needs to come off & valves themselves need to come out & checked for wear, scoring & the valves seats can be cleaned up while you are at it. I had my Audi head done and it was about 350 quid but it ran much sweeter after. I tried various additives that promised to soften the seals and reseal them but none worked.

why are you taking it to the garage and spending out those big bucks and you can do the job yourself.if you dont know how,ill tell you!get a air compressor,a valve spring compressor(at auto zone you can rent them)and the seals,now take off the valve covers,take off the rockers,and take out the push rods(keep them in order)turn on the compressor and let it go up to about 40 to 50 lbs.and take out the spark plugs,then screw in the compressor hose and keep the air up to 40 to 50 lbs.and use the valve tool and take out the keepers and pull off the springs and there you got the seals,and then put it back togeather and when you put in the keepers bang on the spring to set the keepers and go to the others.
