My 1998 Freelander 2.0DI Vibrates when accelerating and de-accelerating what can cause this?? thanks?

Grab a hold on ya drive shaft (Prop shaft) and give it a twist, any movement in the spider joints? Check out all ya mounts, rock dem suckers about. Rock dem wheels, hunt for somepin loose, or outda line. Wheels.
Check ur'e wheel allignment..

accelerating an decellerating can cause it
Acceleration & deceleration vibration sounds more likely to be engine / gearbox mounts either lose or perished, you need to get them checked out.
Its your wheels. Take it to a tyre centre and get them to check wheel balance and alignment. Although if alignment was the culprit you would notice oversteering. Also just inspect the quality of your tyres - make sure they are correct pressure and there is no damage to the tyre wall.

Try to get full 3d wheel alignment check, also could be a bearing thats gone. Have you also checked the tyres?
go to a garage and tell them that it is vibrating. most likly it is 2 things rubbing together
With the bonnet up, have someone start the engine. Watch it to see if there is excessive movment on the mountings. On a clear road, switch the motor off, and see if the decelleration problem is still present. If so, suspect wheel balance, alignment, wheel bearings, propshaft bearings and joints, axle oil seals, sticky brake pads in a lazy caliper. the list goes on, sadly.
