In Ireland what is the law regarding overtime, how much notice must employer give you?
Answers:
Overtime is not compulsory, it is outside of a contract, therefore it is your chioce of whether to accept or reject overtime regardless of notice given.
However if you have a dodgy employer and your company is regularly short staffed there may be pressure on you to do overtime and if you refuse there may be penalties but these would be unofficial and unethical.

overtime is not in the contract but you could blow the chance of promotion in the future, if you don't do it when asked.
overtime is not compulsory therefor you don't have to do it unless it is stated in your contract your employer could ask if you could do them a favour and stay behind for an hour to catchup on work the choice is yours do you want promotion or someday tou might want a couple of hours off one good turn desrves another
