What is the max amount of points you can get on your driving licence?

how many points would you need to accumate in order to lose you licence? or does it depend on the severity of the cause of the points?

Answers:
6 points if u have held the license 4 less than 2 yrs or 12points if u have held it 4 more than 2yrs
it depends
12 and you are done for
Usually 12 gets you banned, but the system doesn't always work and some ar$e is driving around with 28! But 12 is supposed to ban you. If you did something really stupid, like over 100 mph or drove drunk, or crashed while chatting on the phone, you usually get 12 points which is an automatic ban. For the first 2 years as a licence holder you are effectively on probation, and if you get 6 points in the first 2 years you are banned, and must retest to get it back, theory as well!
12 points, then u lose ur licence and have to resit your test
On the totting up way 12 points usually means a ban but drink driving or under the influence of drugs is an automatic ban
Points wise am sure its 12, but if youve been took to court or whatever it depends on the incident whether you get points or loose you licence.
12 before you are automatically disqualified but there was an occasion where the courts took pity on me and I had 14 and did not get a ban
I see that you live in the U.K and I can't help you with the laws there as I live in Canada. You should be specific in your question to where you live. I suspect you'll here about a lot of U.S. rules and not likely the answer you're looking for.

Sorry, I stand corrected :)
12 points is meant to be the max but like everything there are ways around it.
12 points normally means a ban.

There have been cases where people who have amassed 12 points have been allowed to continue driving if they can prove that the inability to drive will cause hardship due to job loss etc.
Most driving convictions carry a standard amount of points e.g. 3 points for an SP30 (speeding) or 6 points for an IN10 (no insurance). The courts usually vary the fine amount given to reflect the severity of the circumstances around the conviction.
in Aussie 12 points then you have to show cause why you shouldn't lose it
12 in order to lose your licence. yeh I think so ..2 points for speeding ,ex:40mph and you drive at 70mph .
If the judge is lenient I have know someone to have 13points on theres!
12 points is the maximum but if you know the judge you can get away with more especially if you are a cop
