Should a display my green P plates?

I have recently passed my driving test and i am wondering if i should display my p plates. My partner doesnt think i need to but i think it would be useful fot other's to know i recently passed.. What do you all think?

Answers:
I displayed my P plates for 2 weeks after I passed my test while I got my confidence driving on my own. I find it useful if I see someone displaying P plates because I know to leave extra space between me and them because they are new to roads and may panic in a situation or make a silly mistake an experienced driver would not.
Not sure if you need to by law, but I think it would be a good idea, other road users would go easy on you. never mind your boyfriend!
u should, incase someone coms and bangs u from behind or the front. ure partner may like someone banging u, but if u want, u sdont have to, or u can, so people are more aware not to bang u..
If you are a confident driver no do not put them on, There are a lot of arrogant drivers out there that would not take any notice anyhow, The test is not easy so be proud & enjoy the traffic jams
if you feel more comfortable with them there then put them on, I had them on for a couple of months, (just incase I made any mistakes) so that people would hopefully take the P plate into consideration and be a lil more cautious around me
You dont need to, I think it has been imported into this country from elsewhere (America or Austrailia US probably).

If you feel its important then by all means do so. You dont have to.

As a driver I don't look at the plates to see if someone is nervous or a bit green in their driving their driving tells the tale all by itself.

if you get a discount form an insurer then fine.

in short do what you feel comfortable with.
I would display them for a while as others on the road will be awear you have just passed and that will give you a bit of piece of mind and I am sure it would make you a bit more comfortable from what you said in your question.
Use the P plates you already have them and they are there for a reason and well done with passing. Take Care
I would, it is going to give you time to adjust to driving alone, also, as a driver I would always be more considerate and patient to a driver who displays the 'P' plate, my son recently passed his test and he uses the plate, it's not a shame thing it's a sensible thing!!
I think it is a great idea to do that! In France it is compulsory to put a probation plate on for a 6 month period. And in Northern Ireland new drivers are required to display 'R' plates (restricted plates) for a 12 month period and limit their speed to 45mph. It makes everyone aware that it is better to give you some distance whilst you are adjusting to speeds and traffic that you are not yet used to.
No, you will look like a loser!!
My wife did when she first passed her test and other drivers were treating her badly, she then took them off on my advice and instantly noticed a change in how she was treated by other drivers.
I have resently passed to , and asked my instrucator the same thing, and he said you can have the green P plates all the time on even if you are a experienced driver, theres no time limit,

I asked someone else, and they said that if you have it on , the police keep an eye on you even more, and other drivers too, well, I listened and I tell you what, people treat me nicely , you KNOW the driving you have a lience, dont put the P plate dont worry nothing will happen to you , and you will be treated alot better, from other drivers, its entirely up to you, but no dont do it, I felt exactly the way you did, my drivng is alot better now I passed this year, im so glad I dont and never did put an P plate, you get confident and driving feels like you never learned

good luck
Yes why not. When comfortable you can remove them at a later date.Lets other drivers know you are a new driver.
Yeah do it - then we can give you a wide berth, at least for one year
