How easy is it to change an oil pressure switch on a 1997 ford escort 1600 16v ztech?
Answers:
It is easy to do
1. Bring the engine up to operating temperature.
2. Now shut the engine off.
3. Locate the oil pressure sending unit;Under hood, center, upper engine area, mounted on top rear passenger side of engine.
4. Disconnect the wire from the sending unit and use an open ended wrench to remove the sender. Using pliers can damage the unit.
dont know imnot a mechanic.is an escort a bike?
I know nothing 'bout cars.it would be impossible..sorry!
Dead easy . pick up a Yellow pages and call yourself a mechanic and hey presto they will charge you a small fortune and fix your problem!
very easy.
Yes very easy they just unscew ,then screw a new one in
For God's sake don't listen to the bloke who said warm the engine up!! It will be hot under the bonnet and you'll burn your hands / arms on the exhaust or block!!
Do it cold, the pressure sensor on a Zetec is on the inlet side of th engine, between the Alternator bracket and the engine mount. It's about 1 inch in diameter and about an inch long. It will have one wire attached to it. Simply unscrew it and screw in a new one, making sure you seal the joint with a copper washer or thread tape.
As above, and it is located next to the oil filter. When screwing in the new one, only nip if up, and give it a small turn to finish. The thread is tapered, and can crack the block if screwed in too tight.
True DO NOT heat up the engine you WILL burn your arms etc do it when cold and when left off over night if possible to give the oil chance to drain back to the sump to minimise any oil that may be in the lines that may drip on to you Eg eyes mouth etc. you only need one tool and some rag. it is located at the back of the engine with one wire bout half way up. it is easy to get to from the bottom it will take 10 to 20 min an use a long socket to lower the risk of damage to the new one once complete start engine and look on floor for leaks until engine fan kicks in once or twice.good luck
