Range Rover 2.5 DSE auto?

I am looking at buying a 2.5 DSE Range Rover, would beinterested to hear from anyone who has one or has driven one. Are they any good? The one I'm looking at has 107000 miles on which is a little over average for a 97 model but it has a good service history.
At the moment I have a VW passat 1.9tdi auto, it is a very nice car but I live in a rural area and drive on farms and country lanes which flood alot.
I know the DSE is a 136 bhp but I presume with the weight that will not be very quick? I'm test driving it on Friday so I should have a better idea, just interested in the opinion of anyone who has driven one.
Please don't bother answering if you don't know as I will report you to yahoo for gaming for points!

Range Rover 2.5 dse a bit sluggish but an excelent off road vech. Not as good build quality as the passat.Points to check are steering box leaks and wear. Also the front and rear suspension at the milage indicated will show signs of wear.Check for corrosion on the rear chassis box sections.Regards Mick
My husband went to look at one not so long ago, he found it rather sluggish, but said the brakes were damned good!
I've got a 4L V8 petrol Discovery, which i love and he's just bought a turbo deisel Discovery, which he's quite surprised by how quick it is. It's high mileage, but providing it's been serviced on a regular basis, mileage doesn't really matter.
Range Rovers/Land Rovers are rather prone to lots of rusty bits, make sure you check for signs of rusting.
They're really cheap for servicing and parts.
We live in a very rural area and i wouldn't be without one now.
Good luck on Friday, but please take care, it's the 13th!!
I owned a 2.5DSE when they first came out and if we are talking about the BMW engined version you will be impressed. I have had several Discovery diesel and also Range Rover Petrol since and consider the 2,5 DSE to be the best of the bunch. I have only driven the manual version and would think that the auto may be a bit sluggish..They are far better than the Discovery which is painfully slow.
