Does any one know what the lanes are actually for on a UK motorway?

If you answer slow, cruising and fast lanes, I expect you've got permantly on fog lights and a BMW without the flashing indicator option fitted.

Answers:
The Outside lane is for BMWs only, the middle lane is for BMWs & mercedes only, the inside lane is for lorries, trucks & cones. The hard shoulder is also for BMWs only, & fugitives from the law. The white lines are for motorcycles
Motor vehicles.
for driving on and for causing less trafic
there for overtaking
Inside lane then 2 overtaking lanes.

You should only move from the inside lane if you are overtaking or in queuing traffic or required to do so to follow directions given on signs.
for aeroplanes toland on when they are not busy lol
nearside is driving lane the other 2 a for overtaking only and not to drive continuosly
I know exactly how to drive on the motor way.if only the rest of the population could work it out!! I can't stand idiots that just sit in the middle lane or outside lane coz their doing 70! grrr
Rangerovers rule.oops did I say that out loud lol
On three lanes of motorway it works like this, from left to right. Lane one a lorry, right up the **** of a caravan. Lane two a lorry trying to overtake them by doing 0.00001 mph more. In lane three bmw sale reps with fog lights on, during the day, doing 110 mph during daylight, no doubt late for a duster convention in a brewers fair just off the motorway.
The nearside Lane(Left hand side) known by "Morons" as the "slow" lane the next lane(on your Right , ) is the overtaking lane to enable you to get past Lorries and slow moving vehicles , the outside lane is also to enable you to overtake traffic travelling in the other two Lanes , usually used by Prats who have to "Pass" everyone else regardless of your and their Safety , but the least stressfull way is to keep to the two inner lanes i.e the nearside and the overtaking lanes and only use the "outside" lane when you Know it is Totally Safe , I can Hear the "Boy Racers" laughing now but thats the way it is -- take a look at the highway code
they are for driving on except the hard shoulder
On a 3 lane motorway, the left lane is for normal drivig.
The middle lane is only for overtaking cars on the left and once completed and safe to do so move back in the left
The right lane is for overtaking cars in the middle and once completed and safe to do so move back in the middle, and if not overtaking those in the left lane then move back in the left.
ti ride a horse
You have 4-5 lanes on british motorways, the "hard shoulder" is for emergency veichals and broken down ones.

The next 3-4 lanes are for traffic, each lane with a speed limit of 70mph

The "outside lanes" lanes are for overtaking only.

So going on the above if everybody stuck to 70mph (hgv excluded) the so called "fast lane" would never be used as traffic would be traveling at a constant speed.

But then you get lane huggers!!
every one should return to the left hand lane after overtaking the lanes are there for volume of traffic
They're for travelling along the motorway. you dumbass.
