Can you legally drive a semi-automatic car, when you only have a licence to drive automatics, in the UK?

Answers:
yes you can according to the dsa it is still classed as an automatic
you can if it has the automatic only function ,aswell as the semi automatic function.
USA!
yes, a manual transmission applies only to vehicles which operate a clutch pedal.

semi auto is a name adopted by auto manufacturers, in older autos some have LO 2 3 D N P these other "gears" are just glorified, it is just a normal auto transmission..
Yes you can. I had a smart car and my husband has only got an automatic licence and he was able to drive it! Smart car's are classed as semi-automatic!

Happy driving :)
It probably depends on how the car is described in the paperwork, Insurance etc, but having just two pedals, accelerator and brake would probably convince the average policeman that it was automatic. Semi Automatics, F1 style are a bit of an oddity as are pre selectors which have a third pedal which is not a clutch, but many thousand of people have driven semi automatics on Automatic licenses, the old British leyland Mini and Mini Metro Automatic, was a semi Automatic, with 1st 2nd and 3rd gear hold positions.
You can drive any car if you have passed your test in a manual car. If you passed in an automatic you can only drive an automatic in the UK.
