My Peugeot 206 1.4 has very slow take off. Is this normal? It's W reg.?
Answers:
i have the same problem with my clio.
I found it was the air intake pipes were bloked and therefore made it hold back when pulling off, get those checked out, if not then it could be the fuel pump malfuctioning.
Hope you get it fixed
go to a car care store and buy some red x mix it in with your petrol in the tank you will see a good change in your cars performance
There might be something wrong with the clutch if it is second hand. Might be worn out.
Take off? It's a car not a plane. lol.
Seriously though, a 1.4 peugeot isn't going to break any land speed records, I'd say it's perfectly normal.
My Y reg 1.4 Peugeot 206 seems to be pretty good on the acceleration front. As someone else has said, it isn't going to set any land speed records, but it does hold its own. I would get it checked out by a garage.
for some reason every pug i have looked at have a slack throtle cable. pull the clip out at the carb/pump and pull the cable throu untill just before the revs start to get higher. do this when the car is warmed up.
If its a high milage then it sounds like its down on torque.
This is a sign of engine wear and not much you can do to improve it at a reasonable cost.
However, might be worth getting the throttle cables, filters and carb/injection checked as we head towards winter.
same thing happened to my SAAB around 275,000 miles. Sublte change. Rubbish eh ?
Its still going though.
well ive read most of these comments. and most of them shouldnt have bothered. its more than likely your air filter blocked, and or old knackered plugs.
get it serviced. and stop worrying,
If this is the 206 1.4 HDI diesel then it is normal, its called turbo lag and I suspect that once it gets going its fine, just froma standstill, and worse at roundabouts?
There isnt much you can do about it
its a french car, all french cars are crap, ive drove a megane, 106, 306 and a saxo and they are all crap.
buy something better like a german, english or a japanesse car!
EG vauxhall, ford, VW, BMW, toyota, honda the list is endless.
but keep away from those crappy french things!!!
