Car chipped?
Answers:
Depending on what the other mods you've done are it might not matter too much if you do tell your insurers or not.
I had a chipped Renault 19 16v and had similar concerns to you. When I bought the chip I bought a spare ecu (£40 from scrap yard) and fitted it to that, and then in turn to the car. My original ecu was kept in bubble wrap under my seat just incase I needed it in a hurry.
I'm now old enough thats any number of mods seem to make little difference to my premium.
its to risky when i had a bump(not my fault of course)checked my car over for for an hour for any mods that haven't been declared,i would tell them
If your car is stock and you are a mature driver, there is less chance of the inspector going over the car with a finr tooth combe.
However if your 19 year old prangs his heavily modified and styled citroen saxo, the insurance inspector will be all over it like a rash so that they can find something that he has not declared and then void his insurance.
tell the insurance company i did and it made little differance to the cost
