I have a rover metro + I just bought a flashing gear stick knob for it, but it won't fit properly ?

The one I've taken off has the bit to cover the saft up to the rubber cover attached to the gear knob, should this come off? because other wise there is a big gap between the gear knob and the rubber where you can see the shaft, and it looks awfull!! at the moment I cant get the two to come appart so don't want to break it!! HELP!!!

Answers:
Keep the knob, scrap the car and buy a decent one
Excuse me but what are you trying to fit it on?
ohh dear
keep the flashie thing bin the car
go to a garage! wouldn't it get REALLY annoying having a flashing gear stick?
You own a metro so a flashing gear knob is the least of your problems..
no accounting for taste then. Just hope the knob gets left if the car is stolen as it will be worth more. Never leave more than £5.00 worth of fuel in the car either.
my god. a flashing knob in a metro. i think an exposed shaft looking awful is the least of your worries. no danger of 'pimp my ride' here, more a case of 'crush my ride'

as for your new purchase, i suggest, that with some discreet wiring, it would make a great novelty butt-plug
like the man says keep the knob sell the car.
Don't bother, it will distract you, especially at night.
metro?
ohh no not a metro !
