How do i avoid rust on my bicycle?
Is there any thing i can buy to apply on it??
Thanks
Answers:
Aluminium won't rust. Although it could still form an oxide on the surface. Less of a problem than with steel. It should be treated when you buy it. So keep it clean and don't scratch the sirface and it will last forever.
hamarite is good to use!
Clean it after you use it. If you see paint chips cover them with paint. Oil is a good protector for metal as it creates a protective layer keeping the metal away from moisture and air.
WD40
i do not know. as i have my bicycle is in the shed
it is ok to wash it i do not think it would get rust on it doing that
Spray it with WD40 every few weeks
Spray it with wd40 the wipe it down after. this also gives it a nice shine
Use it everyday
Try using a Silicone based spray lubricant to cover the bike. That should work.
what's it made of? steel?
A lot of bikes these days are alluminium. so won't rust easily.
If your bike is steel then just dry it off with a dry cloth after washing and don't leave it outdoors in the rain.
keep the chain lubed.. keeps the paint work free from scratches, if the wheels are steel then you can coat the wheels between the spokes in a thin layer of grease, keep the cables greased.
Keep it in Space.
If its a new bike then after you have washed it you could always try drying it before you put it away.
make a shart on it
yes, put it inside a huge pastic bag. Much more difficult to ride, very hot and hard to breathe but guaranteed not to rust.
A cover! LOL
Or don't leave it our in bad weather
leave it under cover when ur not using it and when u wash it use the stuff that the first person suggested or go into where u brought the bike or a hardware store and ask for a rust protector spray stuff
oil it
When i had a bicycle i used to paint all those parts which gets rust. You can't believe for 10 years i didn't required to change the rim, bcs. after that it doesn't rusted. The only thing i do is always keep them painted whenever it required.
WD-40, put it allover the frame just not in any bearings.
buy a rubber bike
W-D40, brilliant stuff
look after it
rub it with a piece of clothe with oil.
Don't leave it out in the rain, and wipe is down after each use if you have used it in the rain.
great question, use WD40, it always works!
keep it in a room of zero humidity
when i was a kid i used to rub petroleum jelly, or as its known now vaseline over the chrome work
no joke. vasaline is good. for lots of things. and that too!
Just clean it regularly and make sure you dry it off!
ALUMINIUM DOES NOT RUST, IT TARNISHES..YOU SHOULD HAVE SPRAYED WITH LAQUER
