Does any one know of any cheap car insurance, for my 18yr old son, whos just passed his test.?
Answers:
Any fine (for not having any insurance) will still work out cheaper than the premium.
Yeah, it's right next to the holy grail LOL Good luck!
Try www.confused.com
Its probably cheaper to out him on some one elses as a named driver until he gets a bit older
yea, most all insurance by geico is great but check it out for yourself..

I would look into putting him on yours or another relations insurance first for a couple of years, there are some companys now who give seperate no claims bonuses to named drivers.
Try tesco car insurance or liverpool victoria. Tesco can be found online at http://www.tescofinance.com/personal/fin. - they do good deals, but its a bit of a lottery as to how much you can save.
Liverpool victoria on the other hand can be found here - http://www.liverpoolvictoria.co.uk/. - don't be fooled by the quote price online, a lot of these insurance companies that have websites have different prices over the phone than online. For my first year of driving i went with these guys, they were over 200 quid cheaper with fully comp than tesco at third party (second cheapest). Online though it was more expensive for some reason! Also you get a complimentary years no-claim when you insure with them as a new driver, so by the time your first year is up you've got two years no-claims instead of one.

For me; 19, no NCB, Bradford resident, licence for 1yr, thinkng of buying a Fiat Seicento Sporting (grp. 3), about £940.
No but your best bet is to get FULL coverage.
Get him to take a drivers Ed class it will help lower your insurance rates.
i'm sorry.speaking as a mother of an 18 yr old son also. what you are asking is an oxymoron..cheap car insurance/18 yr old son.
just go on line type in insurance then fill out the request you'll get a few prices and choose the cheapest
The cheapest way is to get him as a named driver on your insurance with a firm that allows you to build no-claims discount for all drivers - DirectLine do one
However, if its for his own car then you are stuffed. He'll just have to resign himself to the fact that young drivers are a real risk and pay 4 times the value of his car for a couple of years.
try tesco car insurance, i had mine as a provisional driver & was paying approx £500. Confused.com were way too expensive!!
There is no such thing as cheap car insurance for anyone under 21yrs. To help get the quote down, buy a small engined car, keep it garaged at night, alarm and immobiliser fitted, then get your cheque book out. I would not be tempted to put him on with someone else, he will not build up a no claim bonus. We have all been there.
Have you tried playing 3 or 4 companies off against each other, you if you have a quote of 500, got to the next one and ask them to beat the quote, and so on, they will drop their prices by cutting some of their commission, and I can prove it works, as I use the same system for my own car insurance.
SOME CAR DEALERSHIPS DO A CAR AND INSURANCE FOR 19 YEAR OLD'S HIS MEANS THE INSURANCE IS FREE HAVE A LOOK FOR DEALS
You don't want the cheapest for you son , you want the BEST.
Include him as a named driver on your insurance, if you have it, and opt for a high excess in the event of a claim.
Also go for a protected no claims on your insurance. Don't go for a high powered car or a sports type. Go for a Fiesta or similar as they are considered to be safe. A good broker will sort it out for you
Hiya
Try www.confussed.com or Tesco car insurance they have up to £80off @ the moment
Cheers John
Go to:
http://www.confused.com or http://www.moneysupermarket.com.
Whatever the cheapest is there go to that site and do a new quote as you may find it cheaper because on confused and moneysupermarket it may be higher (commission). Example if Tesco is the lowest the open up a new Browser window and type in http://www.tesco.com and a new quote
i dont know how cheap it will be for a newly passed 18yr old, but tesco's is pretty cheap. also admiral pretty good too.
Shop around online and over the phone.
Once you have been to 3 or 4 companies make contact again with the cheapest 2 and advise each one of the cheapest quote you have had so far.
They tend to have more flexibility over the phone as a computer cannot deviate in any way.
I would recommend the companies from the site below.
I was with Norwich Union Direct when I was 18 (7 years ago) and they were very good back then. I'd imagine they would still be a pretty good choice now. I was with them til I was 24 and got a sports car they wouldn't cover.
I just completed my search for a cheaper car insurance. I found that IFA Auto Insurance is less than the majority. You just really have to search, compare and make your own decision. Everyone's circumstances are different. It also depends on the car he will be driving.
Good luck
it doesn't really matter if you get him different insurance. No matter if he lives in your home your policy will be charged also
Try looking on http://www.autoweb.co.uk follow the links for car insurance. There are hundreds of companies on there all looking for business.

Cheap isn't the question here! I would be more incline to worry about putting him on my insurance and his chance of being involved in an accident. Who would be liable for damages when the lawyers come knocking? Make him get his own for sure!
