Just bought a '95 900 convertable. Steering wheel vibration?

any ideas as to vibration/judder at almost all speeds felt through steering wheel. New front tyres fitted and balanced, is this normal for a soft top?

Answers:
Absolutely not!!

If you are getting judder investigate to see if the alloys are still round!! - it's not uncommon for them to go a bit oval if they've suffered a bad impact.

Don't just balance the wheels - go fro a full alignment. Costs about £35 - £45 and involves making sure all of th wheel / suspension geometry is adjusted correctly.

Also check that the front suspension wishbone bushings are OK. If they are really far gone it can cause the wheels to 'wander' in their settings.
take it back and make them check it again if every things OK get them to do the tracking of the car and for them to tell you how the bushes look
nope its not normal you try getting them rebalanced or check to see if you have a bent rim
The vibration is something to do with the wheels. If you've had new tires, and had it balanced, your next stop is to make sure the rotors are running true. Then move in to joints, worn joints could also make the vibrations.

A good mechanic should be able to pin point it very quickly.
could need a wheel alienment..
Didn't you test drive it first? I'd take it back, because if you have front end damage, that could run into hundreds of dollars to fix.
I tried to have my vehicle front end aligned and they said the suspension parts were so worned that it wouldn't align. Well, 800 dollars later they finally got it aligned.
POSSIBLY BRAKE DISKS
No its not normal it means that you could need new CV joints or that your brakes are badly warped. It could also be that the shop you got your tires from did not balance your tires right. I had this problem when I had my Grand Prix I got four new tires and then when I got it back the wheel was shaking at all speeds so I brought it back and I mad a big Seen in front of every body (because they did not want to fix the problem they created) and I finlay got the tires balanced and the car was fine.
