Will you fail an MOT if your rear windscreen wiper is broken?
Answers:
Ignore those answers! They are rubbish - not based on fact. VOSA - the official agency that runs MOT testing says that rear wiper blades are NOT part of the test. I had the same concern last month and called for their advice.
Yes it will..
oh yes
oh yes
It depends usually if it was originally equipped safety item, it must be there. But some models probably didn't have one as an option. I would just take the arm off completely.
I think it has to work if you have one.
If you just rip the whole lot off it might pass. Some older cars don't have them so how do they pass their mot's?
Yes I'm afraid so as it will fail on MOT safety standards.
sorry but yes it will, good news though they are only cheap.
they take into account the condition of wiper in test. so if there isn't one they will most likely fail you. better to get one before test. try a scrape yard they sell them cheap.
yes in certain states. you have to check your state where you live and see what their mot laws are.
if you took the back window out it wouldnt fail the mot. and if its failed ask for an mot appeal form. you've been had
Yes, you will. Because this means that one of the most important visual area of your car WILL get blocked if it rains. This will be a hazard to you, and others.
your best to get a mot with a free re test, leave the wiper and take a bulb out of ur indicators, theyl fail it on that then wnt bother looking for other things, and after a 10 pound wiper your on your way.sorted
i had a nova with a flush tailgate and took the wiper off and filled in the hole,i know a car will pass an mot if any sharp objects i.e snapped wiper arms, are covered with some tape
No, they only test the blades and the washers.
