What is a leaf spring swinging shackle for?

Answers:
If it was ridig it would not act like a spring-
.sounds like something people use for kinky sex..
I dunno. Ask it and see what it says.
allows the spring to flatten out when weight is applied and then come back to its original shape
In their unloaded state, leaf springs are bent in an arc. As it loads up, it straightens out. This makes it longer and the shackle is there to take up the change in length.
in the suspension system sumthing has to give, when a leaf spring comes under load it starts to straighten out and so the shackle starts to move to alow for the extra length
To cater for varying loads since the spring is a set length and unable to flex, hence the shackle moves outward to accommodate
Well done Miss Prim you are correct Regards Mike
