What is tranverse leaf spring?

Answers:
The first answer is partially right but incomplete. what has been described is a longitudinal leaf spring used on a lot of commercial vehicles, one for each wheel. A transverse leaf spring goes across the vehicle & is used for the suspension of both wheels on the same axle. This type of suspension is not used on modern vehicles.
you can find right under the bottom of buses and trucks on the axle joining the rear wheels.it is nothing but layers of springs of decreasing crosssection (downwards) suitable for damping heavy loads
Some cars utilize a variation on the traditional leaf-spring design. GM's Corvette, for instance, uses transverse leaf-spring suspension. In this arrangement, a single, high-performance leaf spring runs parallel to the rear axle, attaching to the wheel hubs at each end.

Hope that helps.
The Traverse Leaf Spring is mounted across the body, its part of the suspension.
It's stopped swinging and gone the other way!
ITS a spring mounted Across the vehicle hence Transverse .Not a lot used these days mostly on older vehicles. Regards Mick
