Does anybody no what a 1.8 petrol freelander should do to the gallon?

Answers:
I had one of them a green one. Best days of my life driving that baby around. Windows down, Swing Out Sister on the stereo, singing my little heart out. The 1.8 isn't great on the fuel consumption I'm afraid. On the motorway it was a round 12 mpg. In town, where I had my paper round, and there was a lot of stopping and starting it was around 3.4 mpg. Not ideal for a paper round that didn't pay well. I had to sell it and bought a van instead, sadly they didn't have a green one and had to settle for blue. Hope that helps and happy motoring
A FreeLander in a normal state of tune-up and not needing a service, should average 24 to 28 miles to the imperial gallon.

The first persons Freelander sounds like it needs a complete diagnostic check and a full service, as the Fuel consumption indicated is a horrifically high fuel consumption figure for all vehicles, with the possible exception of a Jumbo Jet!!.
