I have a rover 416 i i need a new starter do u know if it will be expensive?

hey i went to the shops today in my car. When i returned to go home my car wouldn`t start. It took me more than 2 hours to move. I now know that its a starter problem. Does anyone know how much a mechanic would charge for the part and labour?
Thank you for reading this.

Answers:
Ask for the parts you'll need on a quote, type the serial numbers etc into the internet and you'll find them much cheaper. They can be delivered to your garage and you'll only be charged for labour!
Shouldn't be anymore than £70
Try SEWELLS they will do an exchange which works out cheaper than a dealership etc.Or look in Yellow pages for rewinders it will work out cheaper.Normally its only 3bolts and two wires to swap motors.Go to your local libary and borrow a Haynes manual and it will show you how to swop them.Good luck.
much cheaper if you go to a scrap yard
an exchange altenator for that retails aroung £70-120 but you need to take your old one or there will be a surcharge
Don't tell the insurance. They would scrap the car as the starter would cost more than its worth!
You can probably pick up a good second hand starter in a breakers yard and all in all it shouldnt cost much more than 65 pounds
If it has the Rover petrol engine sell it immediately..your starter will be peanuts for problems ahead..
