How do you unlock the radio after a flat battery?
Answers:
When all else fails, read the manual. If you have no manual, email me the model and I will look it up this weekend for you.
On hondas, you use the preset station buttons. I don't know about the others
Push power and hold. It will ask you to put in the code. If it does not take it then it has to be cleared at the dealer. We had same problem when they replaced the battery in our Alero.
My Punto just asked for the code as soon as I turned the radio on again and I punched in the numbers using the station selector buttons.
you should havehad a code when you bought the car or radio, if not take the car to a audi dealer and they should be able to unlock it for you.
read the manual
most reputable garages can do this for you for a nominal fee of about £25. If you dont want to pay this then you can phone the maufacturer of the car (if its original stereo) or manufacturer of stereo and they will give it to you, although some need reprogramming again. Sometimes theres a code printed on the casing of the unit itself. You used to be able to put it in the freezer for a while to descramble it, but i believe this doesnt work any more esp. on newer steros.
Sorry i misread the question, i thought you had no code. Use the channel selector buttons to put the code in when asked..usually works.
Need to know make of car for starters,as they have different ways to enter code.

The following is the procedure to re-activate the radio if the display shows "SAFE". It is important that the procedure be followed in the correct order.
1. Turn on radio. The radio display shows "SAFE".
2. Press the FM2 and RDS buttons simultaneously and hold until "1000" shows on the display. Release the buttons. Do NOT press these buttons again, otherwise the radio will consider "1000" to be the code.
3. Use Preset buttons 1 . 4 to enter the four-digit code number from your radio card. Preset button 1 corresponds to the first digit, Preset button 2 corresponds to the second digit, etc. Each press of the button increments the number by 1.
4. Once the code shown on the display is correct, press the FM2 and RDS buttons simultaneously and hold until the word "SAFE" appears in the display, then release the buttons.
5. The radio should unlock and be usable shortly afterwards.
6. If an incorrect code is entered, the word "SAFE" appears, first flashing and then continuously. You can repeat the above steps to unlock the radio once more, the number of attempts will be shown in the display. If an incorrect code is entered again, you radio will be locked for about one hour. After one hour - the radio must stay on and the key must remain in the ignition lock - if the display goes out, the you can repeat the above procedure to unlock again. The cycle - two attempts, one hour lock-up - still applies.
7. If you lose your radio code, contact your Audi dealer.
Note: Some European market Concert radios have a TP button instead of the FM2 button, so the description above with those units would require pressing the TP and the RDS buttons simultaneously.

Magikmann answer is correct, but sort the battery issue 1st, if the battery is not in good condition or 100% charged you will be looking for a jump start and putting code in again, just driving around wont charge the battery fully and for every degree the temperature drops so does your batteries efficiency, winters on it's way.
most of the time you can just program it by pressing the numbers of the radio thats what i did to my civic if not check the car manual
