On the backs of large lorrys is the abbrv. TIR what does this mean.please?



Answers:
Transport International Routier (French for International Transport Company). When displayed on a vehicle, it means that the vehicle is capable of being sealed for customs purposes (but not necessarily that it is so sealed at the time the TIR plates are displayed).

Its a code for freight vehicles originating from outside the EU to pass through frontiers without having to have their cargo inspected as the vehicle was sealed and check at its point of origin. If you see this the vehicle started its journey from a non EU country
