Firstly change plugs, leads, oil and filter. replace air filter with a K&N unit. Get the timing adjusted, swap the exhaust system. Change your 1.4 gear box to a Fiesta 1.1 box, Gear ratios will be lower and will increace accleration alot but loosing top end speed if using a 4 speed box, try to find a weber carburretor from the mk 2 fiesta 1.4S this will also help you gain more performance due to the larger jets. Trust me these are tried and tested method from when my mates and i played with small insurable engines. Happy days.

Is it fuel injection? If so buy a small resistor availible on ebay which fits in between the coolant temp sensor or intake air temp sensor and the wiring harness which fools the ecu about engine temp which in turn causes more fuel to enter the engine thus an increase of about 20-25 HP. It realy works!
